Project Management

Synergy Systems provides a variety of project management services to our clients. These services can span the full systems development life-cycle or can be limited to discrete project tasks. We staff each engagement to provide the level of expertise required to ensure your successful systems solution.

Many of our clients do not retain dedicated development personnel on staff as such resources are cost prohibitive given the needs of their organization; our engagements for these clients require us to perform a full spectrum of project tasks. However, where in-house development expertise exists – and is available to the project – the engagement scope can be tailored to ensure that our staff complement internal resources for specific, specialized tasks. Whether provided by client staff or by our personnel, each project must have the experience and expertise to ensure that your project is successfully initiated, developed, and implemented.

A broad project management skill set is required to provide the experience necessary to develop, promote, and synthesize input from – and cooperation among – individuals and groups both internal and external to your organization. Many of our project managers and business analysts have educational backgrounds in Accounting, Finance, Management, and/or Marketing. All have developed project skill sets based on experience on engagements across a wide variety of corporate, association, and not-for-profit clients.

A sampling of project management engagements provided to our clients include:

Project Management

MCI Telecommunications – Multiple Engagements in Support of Customer Billing. Engaged to perform a variety of project management and development initiatives in support of Corporate Customer Accounts, Promotions and Billing Services areas.

Managed transition of all existing promotions from the Washington, DC office to Cedar Rapids, IA. Engagement included documentation of all systems, hiring and training of new staff, and the maintaining of the monthly execution schedules and technical support of all promotions during the transition period.

Conducted a comprehensive review of the NCBS billing system identifying system inefficiencies, processing errors and opportunities for enhancements. Generated comprehensive documentation to support recommendation of additional of system audits and controls; provided recommendations for improved management reporting. Managed the detailed design, development, testing and documentation of the identified audits and controls.

The American Red Cross – Multi-Employer Pension System Redevelopment. Engaged by client to provide overall project management and analytical support during redevelopment of pension system by international actuarial firm. Broad project management scope included acting as primary interface between all client stakeholders and development team leadership. Provided client with periodic detailed evaluation of quality and effectiveness of developer’s efforts through each stage of project lifecycle. Evaluation required technical review of contractor analysis, design, and phased redevelopment of system. Reviews provided analysis and support to enable client to effect changes to contractor direction as needed.

United Food and Commercial Workers’ International Union — Evaluation of Enterprise-wide Replacement of Legacy Systems. Engaged by client to provide review of internal efforts to move all legacy systems from mainframe to client-server based system; project was both over-budget and stalled due to political in-fighting. Scope required detailed review of legacy membership which incorporated various sub-accounting systems to record transactions with external parties including affiliates. Developed and assisted implementation of recommendations for realignment of project resources enabling successful completion of project.
